We tried mutton biryani. Size of the mutton was quite good, I've never seen any restaurant to provide this much mutton at this price point. Quantity of rice was similar to Arsalan. But in taste, it was the worst I ever had. It had way too much ghee, I could smell the ghee instead biriyani's own smell. Taste was also bad. 100-120rs local biryani tastes way more delicious than D Bapi.
P.S.- fishfry was really good.

One of the iconic biryani restaurant at Barrackpore. This place is famous for its mutton itself. The size of the mutton in biryani is so large. It was soft. But the rice of the biryani wasn't the tastiest but it does the job as the star of the show is the meat. We took a keema kaleji ( Liver curry) as well and it was too good. Took some chicken curry for home as well and it was tasty as well. This is a 4.5/5 star place and highly recommended for biryani lovers.

The line was quite long, but it was worth the wait!

🍛The biryani was really tasty and perfect to enjoy with family and friends. The staff were polite, and the place had a nice, welcoming vibe. Great spot to hang out and enjoy some flavorful food together!

Today, after hearing a lot of praise from many people, we went to have lunch at D Bapi Restaurant in Barrackpore. But honestly, from the moment we entered, the ambience didn’t feel nice. You have to pay the bill downstairs first and then go upstairs to sit. Everyone’s behavior felt rather cold — there was no warmth at all. The seating space was limited, and so was the menu.

Since there were just the two of us, we were given a small two-chair table where we could barely figure out where to keep things or even eat properly. Anyway, the fish fry was good, but the biryani was extremely oily.

No matter what happens, Dada Boudi’s biryani will always remain Dada Boudi’s — I’ve never had any issue after eating theirs. But after having this one, I kept burping the entire day.

The waiters were very unprofessional — we had to ask repeatedly for plates, spoons, forks, and tissues, and they kept forgetting. Even for a glass of water, we had to remind them multiple times.

All in all, I’ll never go back there again.

We recently visited D BAPI BIRIYANI (three of us), and the experience was extremely disappointing.
1. Food Hygiene: In one biriyani, we found a dead housefly, and in another, a strand of hair. Though both were replaced, this shows a complete lack of hygiene in food preparation. Cleanliness and strict kitchen checks are urgently needed.
2. Food Quality: Despite clearly requesting solid mutton pieces with less fat, the piece served was almost entirely fatty. The biriyani rice was too oily, even though I had asked for less. The kitchen staff clearly doesn’t follow customer preferences.
3. Cleanliness & Readiness: We reached around 1 PM, a time when any restaurant should be fully ready for lunch. However, after paying downstairs, we were sent upstairs only to find the housekeeping staff still cleaning the area. We had to wait 30–40 minutes for cleaning to finish, and then another 15 minutes for the food to be served after handing over the payment receipt. This shows poor coordination between the kitchen and service teams.
4. Bathroom Condition: The washroom was unhygienic, with a flush which is also not working and a strong unpleasant smell — not acceptable in any food establishment.
5. Seating & Space: We were forced to sit at a tight three-seater table with barely any space between chairs. Clearly, they are trying to fit more customers rather than ensuring comfort.
6. Payment & Service Policy: Customers are asked to make payment first downstairs before being allowed to sit, otherwise they insist on parcel. That’s not a welcoming system for dine-in guests. When one of us wanted to parcel leftover food, the waiter handed an empty container and asked us to pack it ourselves — something that should have been done by staff.

7. Parking Issue: The parking area was poorly managed, and even though it was difficult to park our bikes properly, the person in charge still asked for a tip. That’s completely unprofessional and should be stopped immediately.

Overall, this place needs a complete revamp in hygiene, food quality, service, and management policies. Until they fix these issues, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good dining experience.
